The OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Online Training course is designed for entry-level construction industry workers. The underlying purpose of this course is to promote workplace safety and health by making workers more knowledgeable about common job-related hazards and the best practices to prevent or minimize them.
This OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program will inform workers about their rights, employer responsibilities, procedures for filing a complaint, and how to recognize, abate, and prevent job-related hazards.
This 10 Hour OSHA Outreach Training Program is voluntary, meaning, it does not meet the training requirements contained in any OSHA standard. However, some states and local jurisdictions, employers, and unions have designated OSHA Outreach Training as mandatory for workers to fulfill their desired safety training goals.
Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a completion card issued by the U.S. Department of Labor. This card will be provided by UL EHS Sustainability.

The core objective of the OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training program is to familiarize entry level construction workers of the range of safety and health hazards prevalent at a construction site; how to identify them; and lessen, avert, or prevent the occurrence of such hazards. The training also gives an overview about workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint.
Course Objectives
After course completion the learner will be able to:
- Explain the importance of OSHA in providing a safe and healthful workplace to workers covered by OSHA;

- Understand and prevent the hazard of working on scaffolding;
- Identify the crane safety requirements for crane operators and the precautions to take when working close to cranes;
- Identify, describe, protect himself/herself, and recognize employer’s requirements to protect workers against the hazards of electrocution when working with electrical equipment;
- Use safe and secure methods to handle materials;
- Use hand and power tools safely and protect against accidents and injury;
- Understand the different methods to prevent cuts and puncture wounds, and prevent hand, wrist, and finger injuries;
- Understand what a confined space is and the hazards working in a confined space;
- Be aware of the hazards of using or working with hydrogen sulfide;
- Understand and identify key requirements of hazard communication;
- Identify the health hazards of working with asbestos, lead, and crystalline silica;
- Identify symptoms and know how to manage heat stress; and

This course is designed by OSHA Certified Outreach Trainer UL EHS Sustainability.
As UL EHS Sustainability is an IACET accredited training provider since 2007 (ID # 109818), they are authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
Participants will receive IACET CEU 1.0 on the successful completion of this course.
Participants who successfully complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach online training will receive an OSHA 10 completion card issued by the U.S. Department of Labor.

It is important to remember that this OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Online Training Program serves as an orientation to occupational safety and health hazards and safe work practices for preventing workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. Employees may also need additional site-specific and hands-on training when required by OSHA standards.
It is ultimately the responsibility of the employer to provide adequate training to employees depending on their job type and experience and to meet OSHA requirements in the process.
If you are employed in or plan to start work in the construction industry, then it is important to be familiar with the health and safety hazards that are prevalent in such workplaces.
The OSHA 10 hour construction industry outreach online training is designed to familiarize workers with job-related hazards, the safe work practices to avoid or minimize these hazards, and the procedures for filing a complaint to report unsafe working conditions.
This course does not cover any OSHA regulatory standards. It is a voluntary OSHA outreach training program for the construction industry and provides training for workers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplace.
This training will help participants develop a general understanding of the OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards to prevent construction-related injuries and accidents.
After enrolling for this course, you can complete the course on your own schedule and at your own pace. However, as per OSHA rules, after you launch this course for the first time, you must finish it, including the survey, within 6 months.
Please note that OSHA only allows for 7 ½ hours of training in a 24-hour period.
Yes, you can download a course completion certificate once you have successfully completed the course and scored 70% or higher on your final exam.
As this is an Outreach Training program, you will receive an OSHA 10 completion card issued by the U.S. Department of Labor on the successful completion of this course. This card will be provided by UL EHS Sustainability.
- Although the OSHA 10 Card does not expire, it is recommended to re-take the OSHA 10 Outreach training every 3-4 years to remain updated as OSHA changes/updates its regulations frequently.
- Some employers may have their own renewal requirements, so this may require you to re-take the course as per their specifications.
- Some states also require construction industry workers to re-take the OSHA 10 Outreach training and renew their OSHA 10 Cards. So, construction industry personnel employed in these states must follow state renewal requirements for the OSHA 10 outreach training and the OSHA 10 Card. For instance, New York state requires construction industry personnel to renew their OSHA 10 outreach training every 5 years.
A replacement card can only be issued for a course taken within the last five years and only one replacement card may be issued per student per class.
