Success

OSHA Scaffolding Safety Training is designed to provide general information and guidelines to employees involved in erecting, disassembling, moving, operating, repairing, maintaining, or inspecting scaffolds in compliance with OSHA’s  Scaffolds Standard for the Construction industry as codified in 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L.

Scaffolding is a temporary structure used in many industries for performing work operations at elevated levels. While scaffolding is a common method used for working at heights; incorrect use, design, and other engineering faults can result in worker injuries and fatalities due to falls from heights, falling objects, electrocution, or collapsed scaffolds.

In accordance with OSHA regulations, it is the responsibility of employers to guarantee that all employees working on scaffolding receives training from a qualified person. This training should enable employees to identify the potential hazards associated with the specific type of scaffold being utilized and to have a comprehensive understanding of the procedures in place for managing or reducing those hazards.

Answer: Scaffolds are temporary structures built at elevated levels for performing work operations well-above ground level. While scaffolding is used in many industries for working at heights, it is most popularly used in the construction industry. When scaffolds are incorrectly used, designed, or have other engineering faults, this can result in worker injuries and fatalities caused by falling from heights, falling objects, electrocution, or collapsed scaffolds. As such, workers require to be trained to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize the hazards associated both with scaffolding and working at heights while carrying out their job tasks.

Answer: OSHA does not specify how often someone needs to attend the OSHA Scaffolding Safety Training course. It is up to the employer to determine the employee’s capabilities and to designate trained and knowledgeable individuals for a particular job. The final decision about the frequency of retraining rests with the employer.
0
votes
Answer:

Federal OSHA recommends that employers shall provide a training program for each employee who might be exposed to hazards when working on or around scaffolding. Employers are obligated by OSHA regulations to provide retraining to employees if there is a reasonable belief that they lack the necessary skills or knowledge to safely carry out work tasks on scaffolding and during the erection, usage, or dismantling of scaffolds.

Some states with OSHA state plans may have more stringent re-training or refresher training requirements. Please check with the relevant state authorities or your employer for specific details.
